Mar. 3, 2020
This new partnership promises to build on the success of the BioSteel All Canadian Games to expand the conversation on excellence and potential of young Canadians across sports, media and technology.
Toronto, Ontario – March 3rd, 2020 – The Athlete Institute, the Global Experiential Sport Lab (GXSLab) and Ryerson University are proud to announce a partnership, aimed at furthering the conversation on Canadian excellence in sports, media and technology with the advent of The All Canadian Conference & Esports Summit.
“The All Canadian Games started as just a game to help profile top Canadian high school basketball talent,” said Jesse Tipping, President of Athlete Institute and Co-Founder of The All Canadian – a group overseeing the All Canadian Conference & Summit and the BioSteel All Canadian Games. “Over the past 6 years, it has come to mean much more than a game – a place where all stakeholders in the game of basketball can gather to share thoughts, ideas and connect while celebrating and highlighting our young basketball talent.”
The Conference & Summit will take place at Ryerson University in downtown Toronto over three days starting March 25th through to March 27th, leading into the weekend of the BioSteel All Canadian Games. All events are open to students, sports, media, esports and technology professionals, investors, athletes and sports fans of all ages and academia.
Events will include the following:
March 25 - Opening Reception with Michael “Pinball” Clemons of the Toronto Argonauts and Pinball Clemons Foundation in partnership with The Gist, Athlete Institute, GXSLab and Ryerson University
March 26 – Esports Masterclass Summit & Challenge powered by World Gaming, Tiidal Gaming and Athlete Institute in partnership with GXSLab
March 27 –All Canadian Sports, Media & Tech Conference with the GXSLab, RTA Sport Media at FCAD, Ryerson University and Athlete Institute
“We are excited to serve as a strategic partner to Athlete Institute and provide current and future students opportunities to acquire hands-on experiential learning with industry and thought leaders,” said Laurel Walzak, Assistant Professor RTA Sport Media at FCAD, Director of GXSLab. “The GXSLab is where knowledge is transferred and we welcome the occasion to engage in meaningful discussions and exchange ideas with both the basketball and the broader sports community through the All Canadian Conference and Esports Summit.”
“This is really an opportunity for the basketball community and a much broader sports community to come together to celebrate our young people. We believe that the Games, along with the Conference & Summit have the potential to become a bigger week long celebration highlighting the very best that our youth have to offer across a number of verticals including sports, media, technology and the arts.” said Tipping.“Our young people have the ability to compete globally and it is time that we bring all stakeholders together to amplify and highlight the infinite potential that we see.”
